QICENT 7 Port USB Hub Review

While most computers these days come with a generous amount of USB ports, you might still not have enough due to the fact that more and more devices out there rely on these ports. Keyboard, mouse, your mobile phone, external hard drives, printers, etc., these all need a free USB port to function. Another problem comes if you’re using a desktop and the USB ports are on the back, making it difficult to reach. That’s when having a dedicated USB hub comes in handy because all the USB ports are right there in a place that easy to reach and use. Something like the QICENT 7 Port USB Hub would be perfect and that’s exactly what I have for you here today.

The QICENT 7 Port USB Hub is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a USB 3.0 hub with 7 ports that doesn’t need to be connected to your computer or laptop to function. It’s externally powered with a rating of 12V 2.5A 30W. You will still need to plug the hub into your computer and laptop for it to work with them, but if you don’t or if they are powered off, the hub will still have power and can be used as a charging hub for other devices.

In terms of build, the QICENT Hub is made of high strength fire & heat resistant ABS plastic. It’s light weight, black, and pretty much goes with any setup you have. There’s rubber grip at the bottom to keep it from sliding around, but because of its weight, it doesn’t stay put very well. I ended up using some double sided tape to keep it in place underneath my monitor. On top of the hub is a strip of lights that will only light up when connected to your computer or laptop and shows when every port is in good transfer state. They don’t light up if you’re just using them to charge.

The QICENT 7 Port USB Hub works with Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP, Mac OS X 10.6 to 10.9, Linux 2.6.14 or above. The USB port works very well does what it’s supposed to do. It works great for of the devices I plugged into it and also worked well for data transfers. On top of that, it also worked well for charging my many devices, but at regular charging speeds and not as a fast charger. Overall though, I’m quite happy with the QICENT 7 Port USB Hub. It’s a simple device but one that I’m sure would come in handy for anyone who owns a computer or laptop.
