iOttie iON Wireless Mini Fast Charging Pad Review

I’m going to assume that many of you are still charging your phones with a cable or with a dock and that might be cause that’s just more convenient for you or your phone just doesn’t charge any other way. If you have a fairly new phone however, it’s quite possible that it supports wireless charging, especially if it’s a phone from Samsung, Apple, or Google and a few others. Most of their newer phone support wireless charging and even fast charging but most people wouldn’t even know or care because they still come with charging cables in the box. So why spend extra money of a charging solution you might not even need? Well, the answer there is convenience and the fact that with one charging pad, you could charge a bunch of different devices that might all have different types of connectors. For instance, the iPhone and a Samsung phone both use different types of charging cables. With a wireless charger, you could charge both without the need to search for a cable. That brings me to the iOttie iON Wireless Mini fast charging pad. It’s a charging pad that is compatible with Qi certified devices, can fast charge certain devices, and is small a compact so it doesn’t take up that much space.

The iOttie iON Wireless Mini has an interesting design. Most wireless charging pads I’ve seen are circular in shape and very plastic looking. Not the iOttie unit. This one is more rectangular but has some curves to the edges. In fact, it kind of looks like a tiny portable hard drive. It is also covered in a canvas like material which gives it a nice, decorative look that doesn’t make it look so “industrial.”

Set up is a breeze. You basically plug in the included USB-C cable into the iOttie iON Wireless Mini and then the other end into the charging block. That’s pretty much it. To get your phone to charge, just place it on top of the charging pad and you’re good to go. The iON Wireless Mini does have a couple limitations though depending on the phone you’re using. Fast charging only works with the latest Samsung devices (from Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 and up). With other devices like the iPhone 8 and up, and all other Qi devices, it only does standard charging.

Despite this, the iOttie iON Wireless Mini works pretty darn well. My son has a Galaxy S7 and it does indeed fast charge while I’m on an LG V30 and it does not. I’m not able to try it on an iPhone however as I don’t have one with wireless charging capabilities. All-in-all though, it’s a really nice wireless charging pad that not only works rather well, but also looks good doing it. It’s definitely one of the better looking charging pads I’ve seen, so if you want something that works and looks good, check out the iOttie iON Wireless Mini.
