Those who pre-ordered the digital version of Red Dead Redemption 2 probably won’t notice how long it takes to install the game as it pre-installed over the night and you woke up this morning with it already on your PlayStation 4, ready to play. However, if you opted for purchasing the physical edition at a store, be prepared to wait a bit before you’re even able to play.
According to what I’m seeing on my own PlayStation 4 right now, the physical edition requires you to copy over some 90GB worth of data to your PS4 with an estimated time of about 115 minutes (give or take a few minutes) for the transfer of both discs.
There’s also an addition update that needs to be downloaded, though that’s only about 3.5GB and will probably finish downloading before you’re even done installing the game.
Note: make sure you free up the space needed to install the game before hand.
