PS4 Firmware 7.00 Brings With it PS4 Remote Play on Devices With Android 5.0 and Up

The big news for this week is that Sony’s PlayStation 4 is getting a new 7.00 Firmware Update this week which will up the chat party count from 8 to 16. It will also bring chat transcription services to chat via PlayStation’s Second Screen App. However, those two tidbits aren’t even what people are talking about right now. What is catching out attention is that Sony is finally bringing PS4 Remote Play to Android!

That’s right. What was once an exclusive feature reserved for Sony’s flagship Xperia line is now coming to all smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 and up. What that means is that you can finally run Remote Play on pretty much any portable device now whether it be a laptop running Windows or MacOS, Apple iOS, and now Android. Of note however is that while you can run PS4 Remote Play on Android 5.0 and up, you’ll need Android 10 for Bluetooth controller support of the DualShock 4.

The Android app will be available on the Google Play Store this week following the release of PS4 Firmware Update 7.00.
