Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix

Kart racing fans will surely want to check out Bamtang Games latest, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix on the Nintendo Switch. The game is filled with characters and tracks inspired by Nickelodeon’s most iconic franchises and expands on the original game with more multiplayer modes, improved visuals, a larger roster of characters, and 28 new and reimagined tracks. Choose from 30 speedy racers, including dance and music sensation JoJo Siwa, SpongeBob SquarePants, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Korra from The Legend of Korra, Invader Zim, Arnold from Hey Arnold!, the Rugrats, Lincoln of The Loud House, and many more.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is a full-featured kart racer and not just a poorly thrown together licensed racer. You get a full single-player and multiplayer races along with an online mode. Single-player modes include – Slime Grand Prix, Free Race, Challenges, Time Trial, and an all-new Arena mode. Slime Grand Prix, Free Race, and Time Trials are fairly standard modes whereas Challenges basically are a set of challenges you must complete in order to unlock extras. Arena mode is basically an all-out battle against other players to see who the winner is. It’s a free-roaming arena where you use power ups to attack other players.

With the multiplayer mode, you can choose Slime Grand Prix, Free Race, and Arenas. You can play with up to four players via split-screen. This is the mode you basically play when you want to play local multiplayer on the same TV.

To play online, you’ll have to cough up money for Nintendo Online service.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix isn’t purely about racing either. There are tons of customization unlocks for your vehicles that you can unlock. You can also unlock different pit crew chiefs, crew engineer, and crew mechanic. Each has their own special abilities. Choose carefully as it can make races much easier with the proper crew.

In terms of gameplay itself, the kart racing is quite good. It’s very familiar and plays like another kart racing franchise I won’t mention. The controls are solid and this game feels like you’re rewarded more for your skill with less trashy AI. What I mean by that is that the AI doesn’t cheat and magically catch up to you.

With that said, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is a fun, solid kart racer for those who enjoy arcade-style racers. Extra points for those who also love Nickelodeon shows and have favorite characters they’d love to play as.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix is available on the Nintendo eShop here.
