Popl – Now as a Keychain | Review

popl

Popl is a contact sharing, stick on NFC tag that transmits social media and contact information wirelessly. In order to use it, you had to stick the Popl to the back of your phone. While convenient, I’m sure some people didn’t want to do that or couldn’t to that because of the way their case or phone was designed. Popl solved this problem by introducing a Popl Keychain, which now resides with your keys.

Other than the fact that this Popl is now a keychain, there are no other differences compared to the stick on version. To make use of Popl, you’ll need to download the app from either Google Play or Apple’s App Store. The app allows you to enter all your social media information you want to share along with any websites or blogs. You can even enter any business addresses you have and phone numbers if need be. You will also need the app to activate your Popl tags.

Popl tags are basically NFC tags that you stick to the back of your phone. Once yours is activated, people you want to share your info with just need to tap their NFC equipped phones to the Popl tag. Their phone should automatically take them to your Popl page or to your #1 contact, whichever you have it set to.

That’s basically all there is to it. Basically, Popl takes most of the work out of sharing your information. It makes contact sharing a near contactless solution, which in this day and age is becoming the norm. Whether you choose the keychain version or the stick-on version, Popl is available in many different colors and designs. There are even some limited edition designs you can pick up. If you’re a business, it’s also possible to make your own custom Popl tags.

For those who are heavy into social networks and networking in general, Popl is an interesting solution. Most social media sites can be added, though there are some that are missing. Hopefully, future updates include additional sites, more custom links, and a more detailed contacts card.
