As tempting as it might be to grab a cheap pre-built PC these days, just know that some of them make a few trade-offs with the parts. For instance, sure it might have a great graphics card in it, but it might have a last-gen processor and motherboard, or it might have a subpar power supply or memory. So always be mindful of what you’re actually getting in these and see if it’s actually a real deal or not. If you go with the DIY gamer PC build, at least you’ll always know what’s exactly in it.
Anyways, with graphics cards still being a bit scarce at retail, you can at least build yourself a decent GPU-free gaming PC that will run quite a few games at 1080p/60fps using AMD’s 5600G/5700G. You can build these for around $600 or so depending on current deals and offers and at least these will feature current-generation parts that you can supercharge later with the addition of a graphics card whenever prices come down or if you can find one.
Below is one of the better deals I could find this week on several parts that when combined will form the basis of a pretty good gaming PC. As is without the GPU, you’re looking at around $600 here and will still be able to play a good amount of games at a decent resolution and framerate.
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600G w/CPU Cooler – $299.00
- GIGABYTE B550M DS3H – $109.99
- Silicon Power DDR4 RAM 16GB (8GBx2) Turbine 3200MHz CL16 – $49.97
- EVGA 500 GD, 80+ GOLD 500W – $39.99
- Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD – $42.99
- Zalman S2 ATX Mid Tower Computer PC Case – $54.99
