Cubed Rally Racer by Jared Bailey is a 3D isometric rally racer with a very unique graphic style. Instead of opting for a hyper-realistic-look like many other racers try to mimic, Cubed Rally Racer goes with a deformed cute look where all the graphic elements look like cubed representations of real world objects. It’s a very unique style and actually lends itself well to the game.

Cubed Rally Racer is a very unique game when it comes to how it presents tracks to race on. Instead of having a whole bunch of pre-made tracks, Cubed Rally Racer opts to build each track on the fly making each race unique. That means you’ll never race the same track twice unless you decide to retry a race. The game includes quite a bit of different track parts Cubed ally Racer uses to make tracks so there is quite a bit of variation each time you play.

On the control side of things, it’s OK but not perfect. Because of the way the controls are set up, it quite twitchy and easy to lose control of your vehicle. In fact, most often than not, you’ll be either crashing or driving straight off the course to your death. It will take a few tries to get the hang of it and even then, you’ll lose control every now and then.

Cubed Rally Racer is OpenFeint enabled so there is leaderboard tracking as well as achievements which is always a nice addition to a game. It’s always fun comparing scores with your online buddies.

Final Thoughts

Cubed Rally Racer is a great little casual racing game. The style of the game is great and the fact that every race track is randomly generated is a huge plus for replay value. Control wise, its not the easiest game to control and it can be a tad frustrating at times but it doesn’t detract from the fact that this is a unique racer.

Cubed Rally Racer is available in the App Store now for free right now for a limited time after which it’ll go back to 99 cents.  It’s compatible with all iOS devices however there is a Cubed Rally Racer HD available too for iPad.
