Bee Patrol by developer IslandJohn is the latest game in the line drawing strategy game genre. In Bee Patrol, you guide a colony of bees to collect pollen from flowers while also pollinating them at the same time. You do so by drawing lines on the screen to guide your bees but watch out for obstacles and other bees because if you crash or hit any of them, it’s game over.
In Bee Patrol, there are two modes of play. You can play Worker mode which is survival mode and you can play as Queen mode which is time based. Both modes are very challenging but share similar gameplay. The only difference is that one has a time limit and the other one doesn’t. Controls are easy to master as all you need to do is draw lines to control your bees, just pay attention to where they are going.
Both the graphics and audio for Bee Patrol are also nicely done. Graphically its very simple but clean and crisp and on the audio side, they made great use of the “Flight of the Bumblebees” song and put their own little twist to it. What’s great is that you can replace that with your own music from your collection.
As with most line drawing games, the only complaint I have is that I wish there was an option to speed up gameplay a little and make the bees move faster. That’s the only thing I would add to the game itself.
Bee Patrol is a fun and challenging game that can be played by the whole family. It could be a bit hard for younger children but they can play it once they get the hang of what to do. It’s very age appropriate so if you are looking for a game everyone can enjoy, Bee Patrol fits the bill.
Bee Patrol is available now in the App Store for 99 cents. There is a free Lite version if you want to try the game first before buying. You can get that here.
