Fruit Ninja by Halfbrick Studios is a game of action and reflexes. The goal of the game is to use your fingers to slash at fruit before they disappear off the screen. Watch out though for bombs as they will end your game quickly and keep you from achieving high scores. Fruit Ninja is a simple game in nature but the gameplay is so addicting that you’ll spend hours playing this without even noticing how much time has gone by. With the new 1.5 update, Fruit Ninja now includes four modes of play with the newest mode being Arcade and Game Center support.

The four modes included with Fruit Ninja are Classic, Zen, Arcade, and Multiplayer. Classic mode is survival mode where you see how many fruits you can slice without hitting a bomb or dropping any fruit. In Zen, it is a time based mode to see how many fruits you can get in 90 seconds. Arcade mode is like Zen mode except you only get 60 seconds and it includes special banana power ups that make the game more interesting. In Multiplayer mode, you can compete against your friends or the random stranger. Every mode in the game is fun and you’ll find your self replaying them over and over again in order to get an even higher score then before.

Fruit Ninja is very addicting no matter what mode you play. I had downloaded the game yesterday morning and couldn’t stop playing it. It was the only game I played yesterday and I’m still playing it today. Most games take a couple of minutes to play so it’s an easy game to pick up and play if you have a few free minutes here and there during the day. Fruit Ninja is also a very family friendly game that players of all ages can play. My son who is 4 years old has no problems playing this game either so I can recommend this for smaller children as well.

Final Thoughts

Fruit Ninja is fun and simple and has tremendous replay value. Halfbrick Studios is continuously updating this game with new features and the latest Arcade mode is fun and challenging. The inclusion of Game Center is also noteworthy as you can compare your scores with friends as well as unlocking achievements.

The only thing I’d really like to see in a future update is support for Retina Display just to make the graphics look a bit better but even without it, the graphics are still pretty good.
