Back in October, we did a review of Chillingo and Zeptolab’s  Cut the Rope game for the iPhone. In essence, Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift has the same exact gameplay mechanics and doesn’t really bring anything new to the game so most of the review from the original Cut the Rope applies here to Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift.  Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift that I’m reviewing here is a standalone thank you from Chillingo to all their fans. This is the entire Holiday Gift section from the full game for free. It includes all 25 levels and 9 achievements that can be earned in Game Center.

If you’ve played the original Cut the Rope, there’s nothing really new here. Holiday Gift just features a Christmas themed box and puzzles. The only new element in the game are the Christmas stockings that act like teleportation portals. It’s a very clever gameplay item. Again, the game features 3  stars in each level that you need to collect to finish the game off completely and if you were really good at the original game, you’ll have no problems with this one. I was able to finish up the whole game in about 30-45 minutes but gameplay time really depends on how good you are at solving each level. Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift is still challenging and very fun to play.

It was quite nice of Chillingo to offer Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift for free and it’s definitely a game you should download. Even if it wasn’t free, I would still recommend it as Cut the Rope is a great family game that offers enough challenge no matter what age you are.

STAR PLAYER
Use a variety of special tools in your effort to get Om Nom his candy. Blow candy around in bubbles using special air pumps, catapult your candy across the screen to get to those hard to reach stars, and use hidden ropes in your effort to get every star there is! Plus there’s a whole new special tool, a stocking surprise!
