TGWK’s Review of “Forgotten Places – Hidden Circus HD” v1.0 (iPad)

Forgotten Places – Hidden Circus HD is a new game from develop Sungift Games. In the game, you play as the character Joy who is haunted by images of a mysterious circus. One day, she discovers that the circus is real and sets out to discover why she is so drawn to it. Forgotten Places – Hidden Circus takes the player back in time where flashbacks of the past help uncover long dormant memories of this forgotten circus. Throughout the game, players must find hidden objects scattered throughout each section in order to move on to the next.

As stated above, Forgotten Places – Hidden Circus HD requires a lot of searching. You are given a list of objects and must find each one of then hidden throughout the scene. They could be hiding in plain sight or inside other objects. You just need to search everywhere. It’s not incredibly hard of a task, but sometimes, some of the objects are really small so it’s tough to find them at first glance. Aside from finding objects, the game also includes a few mini games and puzzles for variety so it’s not just the same thing over and over again.

Graphically the game is very good. All the environments are drawn in 2D but are all highly detailed and very colorful. There is so much to see in the game that it really makes looking for objects a challenge, but in a good way. Most of the environments are interactive and allow you to open drawers, looks inside lockers or boxes, and some even have small mini games to play. It all flows nicely and the user interface options are easy to navigate.

Forgotten Places – Hidden Circus HD is a fairly long game. Between finding objects and reading the story, you’ll find that there is plenty to do in the game. The game itself is family friendly, but for younger children, the game is pretty text heavy so they may not understand the story or what is going on. They will have fun searching for the hidden objects however but you’ll most likely have to tell them what to search for if they can’t read yet. Also, because the game is fairly long, I had to pace myself and play a section at a time. Luckily, the game saves your progress after each section so it’s not one of those games where you have to finish the entire game in one sitting. Forgotten Places – Hidden Circus HD is a very good game and one that I would recommend picking up if you are a fan of this genre of gaming. I don’t play hidden object games all that much but I found this one to be quite enjoyable and one that I kept coming back to to play.

Forgotten Places – Hidden Circus HD is available now in the App Store for $4.99. It is compatible with iPad. Requires iOS 3.2 or later.
