Phantom Probes by Entertailion is a puzzle/guessing game where the object of the game is to figure out what the invisible object is on the screen. Instead of just randomly guessing until you figure it out, Phantom Probes utilizes other objects that you use to drop on top of the invisible shapes. When these objects come into contact with the shape, it’ll bounce off of it. The way they bounce off the invisible shape is how you will figure out what that shape is. Very interesting concept this game is and one that will actually get you thinking outside the box.
Playing Phantom Zones isn’t really that difficult at all. You choose one of three “probes” presented to you and they will continuously drop on the invisible shape. If it hits a surface, they will leave a marker of what that surface looks like. You can rotate the invisible shape so the probes can show you what the other surfaces look like. The markers however don’t stay there so you’ll have to remember what that surface looked like as you rotate. Now, you will find that the markers don’t always seem to appear when the probes are dropped on the surface. They only seem to appear on straight surfaces, so most of the time, you’ll need to just guess what the contours of the surface are like from the way probes bounce off them. Once you’ve figured out what the shape might be, you can choose between three guesses presented to you. This makes the game a little bit easier instead of flat out trying to guess what the shape might be.
Phantom Probes is a pretty satisfying thinking game. You really need to visualize the object in your head since it’s invisible. It’s not always an easy thing to do. Instead of trying to figure out what the while shape is, it sometimes best just to find a portion of it that distinguishes it from the other shapes being presented to you. That way, you really don’t need to figure out what the whole thing looks like. All-in-all, Phantom Probes is pretty unique and it’s actually the first time I’ve run across a game like this. At $0.99 and being a universal app, it’s worth the price.
